This page is dedicated to the memory of Barry Henderson Mcphee, Jr.

October 27, 1923--August 18, 1995

This very special home is located in the Fairhaven tract in Orange, CA.  The floor plan was designed by the firm of Anshen and Allen and features 2074 sq.ft. of living space, 4 bedroom, 2 baths, two car garage, central air conditioning and a large atrium entry.  With painstaking care over the past 30 years the homeowner created a wonderland in truly artistic landscaping, expertly sculpting pine trees and rare palms, nurturing ornamental shrubs and tufted grasses, creating a "river" of pebbled gravel which flows leisurely through an exotic forest of prehistoric-looking plants and ferns, flowing under an arched wooden bridge.  To get a closeup view of any of the pictures below, just click on the pictures.

The entrance to the home is through a lushly planted atrium that has ceramic tile flooring.  The living room features 10 ft. ceilings and clerestory windows.  The lovely yards and atrium can be viewed through the massive floor-to-ceiling walls of glass.

The fireplace wall seems to float between 10 ft. high panels of glass.  The rear yard has a wood patio which wraps around the home and is shaded by the patio cover which cleverly extends from the existing beams and roof line.

Multi-purpose room is used for formal dining.  It adjoins sun-bathed remodeled kitchen.  The Phillippine mahagony walls have been lovingly maintained.

Lush and exotic, this yard is a horticulturist's dream spot. It is the labor of truly gifted, artistic, nurturing hands, those of Barry McPhee.  His memory will continue to live in the beauty he created.
